A 2018 movie where a Highschool student named Alex is planning his first sexual encounter with his girlfriend. Alex Truelove is a senior in high school who appears to have it all: he's the class president, gets good grades, and has a gorgeous partner. But everything Alex claimed he knew starts to shift when he encounters openly homosexual Elliott. Moreover, the question about who is the surround the plot. This portrayal is a perfect example of the journey someone must pass through to find their sexual orientation.
Queer community representation has been often done by exaggerating certain aspects of the community. In this film, even if the main character is in search of his identity, the dilemma is made bigger unnecessarily. Moreover, excessive attention to a sexual act is not realistic. The most worrying aspect of the media is the unrealistic expectations that are created about how you should live life. Because media plays such a large role in our lives today, films have the potential to establish a false expectation of love for both men and women, which can have a long-term impact (Casey, 2020). Media has become a large part of a pattern that the main companies use to get a bigger audience. The movies have become generic and more when talking about crucial topics such as sexuality, gender, and gender expression. Alex Strangelove is an example of how someone's sexuality has been simplified to get more viewers. In addition, it is a clear example of movies becoming less original. Another crisis of the movies industries is the creation of inconsequential content. Teenage years are unquestionably the most fascinating period of our lives since it is a time of self-discovery and experimentation. These obnoxious teen movie tropes, on the other hand, will make you realize that fiction is distant from reality (Listposts, 2018).
